The Vatican Treasury of Esoteric Objects - Indiana Jones and The Great Circle - Part 3

In this journal entry, I finally leave the Vatican but not without being introduced to our villain, Emmerich Voss.

My name is Steve Saylor, and this is my quest log for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD. If you want to play the game and come back to listen or read this later, please do. Don’t worry, I’ll be here when you’re ready.

It’s just past midnight, the same day as my previous session. After several hours of gameplay, we’ve finally left the Vatican. I spent another three hours finishing puzzles, including finding all ten inscriptions. This allowed me to obtain a secret artifact from Antonio, along with several others, although I didn’t find every hidden secret. I’m fine with that—I had fun exploring and hunting for details. The inscriptions were a highlight, revealing more of the story, but I hoped they’d offer a little more.

The session progressed as follows:

  1. The Fountain Puzzle
This was like one of those sliding tile puzzles where you move pieces around to connect something. It took me longer than it should have, mostly because I was tired. Late-night gaming can do that!

  2. The Underground Trials
These were a mix of platforming and puzzles. Nothing too challenging—just tasks like jumping, moving pillars, and lighting fires. The trials led to a secret treasury of esoteric artifacts where I found the cat mummy that I was looking for.

Things got intense when Tony Todd showed up as a villain. He nearly defeated me, but I figured out how to parry his attacks and punch him strategically. Weapons like the revolver and whip were useless, so it came down to brute melee. After enough punches, I knocked him out.

  3. The Villain’s Monologue
There was a cinematic sequence where he talked about “the sins carried in the muscles of your face.” Classic villain talk, but delivered well.

  4. The Great Circle
The story revealed that ancient statues found all around the world contained fragments of something tied to the Great Circle, a map of spiritual sites around the globe. Naturally, the Nazis are interested because of the supposed power these sites hold.

After learning about the Great Circle, the session ended with my character traveling to Gizeh. This transition to Egypt thrilled the “mini-archaeologist” in me. I’ve been fascinated by ancient Egypt since grade school when I built a paper-mâché sarcophagus for a museum project. It was a fun memory to revisit.

I haven’t started the Egypt chapter yet, but I’m excited to dive in.

Thank you for reading (or listening to) my journal for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. I hope this was worth your time. Enjoy the game, and take care!
