Shadows of Minrathus - Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Part 7

I travel to Dock Town and find another Shadow Vigilante group who is trying to save it's citizens from it's leaders. Where have I seen this before? lol

My name is Steve Saylor, and this is my quest log for Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD. If you want to play the game and come back to listen or read this later, please do. Don’t worry, I’ll be here when you’re ready.

This is the first play session I’ve had of 2025 after not playing for about two weeks. It took a bit for me to get back into the swing of things, but I was glad for a more simple mission without a lot of dialogue or character choices so I could kind of turn my brain off a bit.

Making my way to Dock Town

During my recent play session, I found myself experimenting more with combat mechanics. I've been trying to balance between ranged and melee attacks, adapting my strategy based on enemy positioning. One challenge I've encountered is the camera control - it doesn't always lock onto new enemies effectively, forcing me to constantly reorient my view.

The main mission took me through an investigation of the Venatori, a dangerous cult that has somehow managed to bring the Blight into Docktown's tunnels. These tunnels are crucial for the Shadow Dragons' operations, making this situation particularly problematic.

The plot thickened when we discovered that a wealthy resident's son was secretly involved with the Venatori. However, as Neva pointed out, there seemed to be more to the story than initially apparent.

After finishing the mission, there was one aspect that felt somewhat jarring was the requirement to return to the lighthouse for a brief conversation with Nev, only to immediately head back to Docktown. While this might serve gameplay purposes like allowing for equipment upgrades and character interactions, it felt like unnecessary padding in terms of story flow.

With Dockt own now more accessible for exploration, I'm at a crossroads: continue working with the Shadow Dragons or meet with the First Warden at a local pub. This decision will have to wait until my next gaming session.

Overall, this session served as a good re-entry point into the story, despite some confusing elements. While I'm still getting to grips with certain aspects of the game, I'm looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds.

Fun clips I took during my play session

I love coffee. Enough said lol. So to find out Lucanis also loves coffee. I need to make it my mission to have a cup of coffee with Lucanis before the game is over haha.

I love the flourish of this finisher move. Wish I had more variety in my finishers. But this is still cool to watch each and every time.

Do you have those moments when you’re playing a game and you wished you had been documenting your experience? Either writing down your thoughts, or recording them so you can look back and see how far you’ve come? Did your predictions turn out to be right? Did you change how you felt from the beginning of the game to the end? Did you savour your journey while you played? Or speedrun the whole experience just to get it over with? I know I have. So I’m doing just that. My name is Steve Saylor and this is my Quest Log.
